About the map
The map and text was created by David Harrison, author of The Bridges of Medieval England: Transport and Society 400-1800 | Oxford Academic and many other articles on bridges and roads. He is the Co-founder of the International Bridges Group, a multi-disciplinary group of scholars, including archaeologists, engineers, geologists, historians and professors of literature.
The work is the distillation of a lifetime's work. It includes much original research, particularly on roads and bridges. Much has been written about castles and great houses, but this is the first attempt to map those in use in the late 15th century.
