Lecture: How to map the Middle Ages

In January 2026, David Harrison delivered a lecture entitled ‘Mapping England and Wales in the Late Middle Ages: roads, transport infrastructure and key destinations’ at the invitation of the British Archaeological Association. The event was hosted by the British Archaeological Association at the Society of Antiquaries of London in its apartments at Burlington House, Piccadilly, London.

In the words of Professor Eric Fernie, former Director of the Courtauld Institute, “It is a fascinating lecture, starting with the amazing breadth of its coverage, but also including details, such as the relevance of battles to roads. I feel as if I’ve been on a magnificent journey.”
